BSTA has been delighted to fund several small projects over the years. Our ability to do so depends heavily on the frequency of meetings of the R&D committee which represents our main source of operating funds.
One of our most recent project was the publication of
“Sugar Cane Farming in Barbados – A reference handbook on sugar cane growing and field management” if you are interested in obtaining a copy of this book please contact us at secretary@bstabarbados.com or marinahlaurie@gmail.com
Currently the BSTA is developing 3 projects:
- The BSTA survey of rare and unusual crop and fruit varieties. A database identifying unusual and exotic plant varieties present on the island. Click here for the project page!
- A consumer guide to build awareness of the different varieties of fruits and vegetables available locally and the characteristics and best uses of them for consumers and agri-processors. (In planning)
- A list of suppliers of plant crop varieties available for commercial sale (In planning)
