The BSTA was formed in 1939 as the “Barbados Sugar Technologists Association” but the name was changed in 1990 to the “Barbados Society of Technologists in Agriculture” with the aims of the discussion of matters concerning Agriculture, disseminating information to its members and offering advice to the Government and other interested agencies.
The BSTA organises “Think Tanks” and seminars and hosts an Annual Technical Conference on specific topics related to Agriculture. The 2015 Conference addressed “Going forward in agriculture – Innovative “out-of-the-box” solutions”.
The BSTA also organizes Field Tours to places of interest for members, which are very informative, interesting and popular.
